It’s currently about halftime at the Super Bowl 52. Super Bowl is always very fun for the entire nation. I have always loved Superbowl and I still do! This is my first Super bowl with T1D and Celiac, so things are a little bit different this time around. (If you didn’t get the joke: when you take insulin to eat food it’s called a bolus, so instead of Super Bowl, it’s Super Bolus!!!!!!!!! Eh? EH? ok I’m sorry.).
How Diabetes affects it
If you’re hosting or are at a Superbowl party, chances are you have chips and other snacks out to pick at. Sadly without the pump, I cannot have snacks freely. A chip or two won’t hurt me at all, but after that my blood sugar will spike. If I want to have some snacks, I have to take a whole new shot of insulin for it. But wait . . . there’s more! I can’t just take insulin whenever I want to. I have to wait 3 hours in between shots or my blood sugar can plummet! Even if I take a shot, I have to wait 15 minutes after the injection to eat.
