Life is always full of hurdles, some are bigger than others. But instead of running into them and injuring ourselves, we jump over them and continue the race of life.
Another disease
My blood work came back and I was loaded with antibodies. I went to the gastroenterologist and I was extremely gassy. An endoscopy was in order. An endoscopy involves doctors using an endoscope, a long slender tube with a camera and a needle used to take biopsies in order to see if I have Celiac Disease. I was beyond nervous! (But the anticipation is worse than the actual thing!). On the big day, I went to the hospital to get checked out. I got an IV inserted and met all of the nurses and my anesthesiologist. He’s in charge of putting me to sleep before the surgery. The moment finally arrived for me to go in. I walked into a bright room with a big hospital bed in the center. I laid down on the bed and I got heart rate moniters stuck onto me. They then gave me my anistesia, and I remember looking at the endoscope right before blacking out. I woke up and I got informed of my diagnosis. Celiac disease is where my body cannot process gluten, something found in wheat, rye, and barley. Have a look for yourself! Chances are if you look around your house you will most likely see something marked “gluten free”. I can only eat this stuff, as eating gluten can harm my small intestines. This means I need to be careful with ordering food, but I will jump this hurdle and continue with life.
