I was told a week ago about some amazing news. I got told on November 4th, 2017 that I got approved to get an insulin pump! I got approved to finally get the T:Slim X2, my first pump (to the right is a picture of the pump). I am so exited, but with this excitement comes a little bit of craziness!

What’s so Good About the Pump?
Three words: no more shots. With the pump, I won’t have to take any more insulin injections. I just have to type in the amount of carbs that I’m about to eat and… done.
Why Does it Make Me Crazy?
Let’s just say that with it comes a lot of changes. First, I have to have the pump with me almost all the time. I can disconnect the tube from my body for about an hour, but it’ll still be a bit of an adjustment. Secondly, I’m not too crazy about needles. I already used needles for injections, but the ones used to insert the pump are slightly bigger. I know that it’s nothing to get anxious over, but it still makes me a little uneasy. Finally, it will be constantly on my body. I feel a little weird about something constantly being under my skin. Oh well, it can’t be worse than the IV that I got in the hospital. Even though it makes me a little crazy, not having anymore shots and more freedom will make it worth it!

You got this. Before you know it, it will be second nature. You’re doing great!!
